Become a PADI Professional SCUBA Instructor in the Rick’s Diving Locker Instructor Development Program.

IDC elearning 540 x 284

Being a SCUBA Instructor might be the coolest job in the world. The road to instructor is filled with the most intense and demanding dive training in scuba and it’s the best time you’ll have. Becoming a scuba instructor isn’t easy, but it’s some of he most rewarding and intense training you’ll do in your scuba diving career.

The Instructor Development Course at Rick’s Diving Locker is intense (PADI IDC). Our IDC Staff instructors are the best in California. When RDL trained candidates arrive at the Instructor Examination at PADI’s headquarters, they stand out from the crowd as the most prepared, most thoroughly trained and highly qualified candidates in the group.

In the PADI IDC you will intern with PADI Open Water classes and assist instructors as they teach. You’ll review physics and physiology and expand on the knowledge base you built in the Divemaster course.

You’ll learn about the law and business of diving and you’ll get a chance to put it all to use as you are guided through the program by our experienced  IDC Staff.

Because Rick’s Diving Locker is one of the most experienced Instructor Development Centers in Southern California, instructor candidates are  able to take part in a variety of interning situations. Interning is among the most valuable aspects of the PADI IDC because it gives you a chance to see a variety of instructors’ styles and techniques as they work with students of all levels from beginning to Rescue Diver and even Divemaster.

If you dream of ditching the 9-5 daily grind and setting off for a distant tropical lifestyle, you’ll find that having a PADI Instructor rating on your resume is like having a key that opens many doors. Our Dive Center is connected with many tropical operations around the world and works closely with PADI,  so we can assist you with resort placement in a locale of your choice. We also have opportunities for part time independent Instructors.
